Goals

• Provide a forum for the discussion of ethical, social, and technical issues related to assessment
• Improve the standards of professional service in the field of assessment
• Identify problems and concerns relating to the use of tests and other evaluative instruments and work collaboratively with other groups to uphold the highest standards of assessment (www.fairtest.org)
• Stimulate research and developmental activities relating to assessment issues
• Publicize examples of outstanding assessment practices
• Disseminate and discuss the results of research relating to the development of new instruments, techniques, and technology in assessment
• Promote better communication between developers and publishers of assessment instruments and consumers
• Promote competency in the use and interpretation of assessment instruments
